Supplemental Liability Coverage (SLI)

  • Extra Protection: Provides additional liability coverage for you and authorized drivers, covering third-party claims for bodily injury and property damage.

  • Coverage Details: Extends beyond basic liability coverage up to $300,000 total, with a $75,000 limit per person for bodily injury and $10,000 for property damage.

  • Coordination with Other Insurance: Your primary insurance (e.g., personal car insurance) will be used first. SLI kicks in for excess coverage.

  • Not a Replacement: SLI doesn't replace basic liability coverage; it supplements it for greater protection.

  • Recommendation: Consider adding SLI to your RCLI for more comprehensive protection.

Roadside Assistance Coverage (RAC)

  • What's Covered: Assistance for minor issues like flat tires, battery problems, lockouts, tire changes (with a spare), and towing.

  • What's Not Covered: Costs of materials like fluids, parts, tires, or glass.

  • Note: In New York City and Brooklyn, RAC is included with CDW.

When to Choose Your Coverage

  • Before Your Trip: Select your insurance options during the booking process for a seamless experience.

  • If You Forgot: Contact Kyte customer support at least 2 hours before your trip starts to add coverage.

Have your own car rental insurance?

If you have existing car insurance or credit card benefits that cover rental cars, you can use them with Kyte. Here's how to ensure a seamless experience:

  • Provide Your Insurance Information: During the final step of the Kyte booking process, you'll be asked about insurance coverage. Simply enter the name of your insurance provider to indicate you have your own coverage.

  • Verify Your Credit Card Coverage: Many credit cards offer some form of rental car protection. However, it's important to understand the specifics. Credit cards typically do not offer liability insurance, which is required to legally drive in every U.S. state. To learn more about what your credit card covers (and what it doesn't), read our comprehensive guide: Does my credit card cover liability insurance and damage protection?
